isaiah has become quite the artist in the past month! he's always asking if he can make cards for people!
his writing is getting much better too!
front of a birthday card for his teacher
back of his teacher's card. it is a picture of isaiah on a hot air balloon flying over the ocean. in the ocean you can see smiling happy fish and unhappy octopuses.
these pictures got thrown in here in the middle of the post and i'm too pregnant to move them around :) so we'll take a break from isaiah's art work to just see some random pics!
christina is feeding her big monkey some juice
our church egg hunt--- the weather was much better this time!
christina enjoying the hunt
look at all my eggs!
i think she is sad here that she can't fit anymore eggs in her basket...
okay, back to cards.
isaiah decided that once april hit he would make happy april cards for some of his family members!
this is the front of his card for daniel
i think this is the back of sam and sharon's card--- sorry to spoil it for you if you haven't gotten it yet! its a picture of the sun setting at the park. isaiah is standing under a tree
this is the back of daniel's card. its a picture of isaiah waking up in a tent at the park. i love this one :)
he loves leaving me messages on the magna doodles now. i find this one often.
he is even spelling with his cereal! i had to help him with the letter n--- he ran out of cheerios, haha.
this he almost did entirely on his own! i found him working at the kitchen counter and he asked me how to spell "coming" and "month". of course we need to work on including spaces, haha. but this was pretty amazing for someone his age! for those of you having a tough time decoding this it says "my new baby is coming this month. to mom and dad. from isaiah"
we had an easter egg hunt this weekend but it was soooo cold out! doesn't feel like spring at all! the kids have another hunt at church this sunday so hopefully things will be a little warmer by then.
in prep. for the baby coming isaiah and christina are now sharing a room (until we move to the new house). i saw them this morning playing tea together on the monitor--- so sweet.
and here is a short video of christina singing happy birthday to appah!
hello spring! its still really cold here in chicago but we've been keeping incredibly busy this whole month!
the whole team shin went to a bulls game together--- it was christina's first game. the kids ate their way through the whole game!
isaiah had a silly smile in this picture... just thought i'd include it :)
we've been really busy dealing with our new home. we decided to redesign the entire kitchen! it now look like this... yikes!
earlier it was dr. seuss' birthday and umma got to come into isaiah's room, read some books, and do a cat in the hat craft with the class. it was so much fun!
and here is a quick cute picture of christina who finally discovered pigtails and loves them!
We also celebrated Appah's birthday this week! Happy birthday to the best appah!
where has the time gone? we missed the entire month of february!
team shin certainly has been busy with winter festivities, preparing for baby, and buying a new home!
LEARNING TIME
isaiah has learning time everyday while christina is napping. we do tons of different things during learning time including reading, writing, and math. here are some pictures of learning time.
christina joining us for some valentine making
isaiah handmade some valentines for some of his friends and family. he decorated each one with pictures and stickers.
for valentine's day we did a heart candy sort and graph
and then we translated the candy to an actual bar graph. this was isaiah's favorite valentine's activity!
some days umma makes a worksheet that isaiah reads and completes all by himself!
WINTER FUN!
it has finally snowed a bit in chicago! city kids have tons of fun in the snow too and we have our own sledding hills as well. a couple of weeks ago we took the kids for some fun sledding.
christina in a cute hand-me-down snowsuit
appah and his sweet kids
city sledding is so much fun! where else can you get this kind of background?
afterwards we came home and enjoyed some yummy hot cocoa
here is video of sledding!
yesterday it snowed 8 inches! we went to the park outside our house for a fun romp in the snow!
there was so much snow that the bottom of the park slide went straight into the snow pile! the slide was super fast and slippery, here is a video of isaiah enjoying the slide!
A couple of weekends ago it was Isaiah's turn to host his classroom mascot, Kandy the Kangaroo. We were charged with taking Kandy with us wherever we went and to document it in a classroom binder with pictures. Here is a little of our weekend with Kandy!
Isaiah reading a story for Kandy during learning time.
Kandy watching Isaiah play on pbs.org
Isaiah giving Kandy a ride on our slide
Isaiah and Appah made Kandy a table out of legos.
Then we took Kandy to a real slide at the park
Okay, no Kandy here--- but look at both of my kids on big kid swings!
Christina going down the slide very very slowly
We took Kandy to visit the lego store
Posing with Kandy with a lego Woody in front of the lego store
Kandy visited church with us.
Kandy played Candy Land with the family. Isaiah won the game, and Kandy came in second. Umma came in third and Appah finally made it at the end!
Here is video of Isaiah reading that story for Kandy. He is re-reading the story we read during learning time the day before (this was only his second time reading it). Its from Henry and Mudge and the Snowman Plan.
